Judy Carol Johnson Murrell

 Funeral services for Judy Carol Johnson Murrell, 70, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Bethany Baptist Church, located at 10043 US-79 in Bethany, LA.  At 2:00 p.m., family will receive friends and loved ones.  The burial service will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in DeBerry, TX.  Brother Marvin Cooper will officiate.

Judy was born on May 4, 1952 to Goza and Evelyn Johnson in Greenwood, Mississippi.  On Friday, September 16, 2022, Judy passed away peacefully with her family by her side.  Judy fought hard and was incredibly brave and strong during her illness.  Judy is now reunited with her beloved parents in God’s kingdom.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory are her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, John Murrell; son, Mark Murrell and his wife, Erica, and  granddaughters, Ophelia and Ember (who lovingly called Judy “Juju”); son, Scott Murrell; brother, Rex Johnson and his wife, Jeannie; sister, Tammye Johnson; brother-in-law, Edmond Murrell and his wife, Kim; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cherished and longtime friends.

Judy was loved by so many people and her love, compassion and laughter will be missed terribly.  Judy was kind, original, helpful, funny, strong, loyal, generous and selfless.  Judy spent most of her time helping friends and taking care of her treasured husband. Judy was John’s whole world, and their children loved her so very much.

John and Judy loved to travel and go camping and fishing.  She was an incredible cook, and loved to prepare meals for family and friends.  Judy was also a dedicated and skillful nurse for 35 years.  Judy helped many people with her gift, even long after retirement. She also loved to dedicate her time to her church for over 30 years, Bethany Baptist Church. 

The family suggests memorials may be made in Judy’s honor to Bethany Baptist Church, 10043 US-79, Bethany, LA 71007 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
