Julius "Sonny" M. Burkett

A funeral service celebrating the life of Julius “Sonny” M. Burkett, 84 will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Converse, Louisiana, Friday, July 5,2024 with Bro. George Lee Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Fellowship Baptist Church.

Sonny was born on September 24,1939 in Converse, Louisiana to Julius and Margueritte Morgan Burkett, and entered into rest on June 30,2024. 

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Whitaker Crites Burkett; son, Harold “Harry” Burkett and sisters, Bessie Wood and Shirley Stoker.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Donna Burkett, Mary M. Ebarb (Allen), daughter-in-law Sandi Burkett; stepson, James Crites (Kathryn), stepdaughter, Jennifer Crites (Brandy), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Honoring Sonny as pallbearers will be Noel Black, Terry Palmer, Matthew Ebarb, James Crites, C. J. Crites, Roy Joe Harris, James Warner, Dagan Singletary, Tim Singletary, Ben Burkett and Adam Burkett.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Love, INC, GODTEL, and St. Jude’s.
