A memorial service honoring the life of Justin Burns Breithaupt, 87, will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Dr. Chuck Pourciau, with visitation after the service in the church parlor.
Justin was born February 14, 1930, in Shreveport, to William and Elizabeth Burns Breithaupt and died at home on October 19, 2017, after a lengthy illness.
Justin was a masonry contractor, as was his father before him. His dissatisfaction with the scaffolding of the day led him to create his own, which is now known throughout the masonry industry as Non-Stop Scaffolding. The business grew to become the number one elevating scaffolding in the United States and Canada. His professional life was devoted to improving efficiency and safety for fellow masonry contractors; and his achievements recently earned him a place in the Masonry Hall of Fame. Justin had an overall curiosity of how things were constructed and loved to learn about new ideas and techniques. He also enjoyed history and traveling, and loved to garden.
Justin was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bill, Joe, and Edward Breithaupt, and sisters, Virginia Breithaupt McClelland and Aline Breithaupt Trowbridge.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sandra Stringer Breithaupt, sons Justin Breithaupt, Jr.(Christi),of Shreveport, and Mark Breithaupt of Lexington, Virginia, and daughter Marcia Breithaupt Upson-Schultz (Jon), of Richardson,Texas; grandchildren Candice Burgess (Andy), Cassie Bohanan (Drew), Jessica, Jacquelyn, Juelie, Jennifer Breithaupt, Chelsi Daquanno (Lee), Madison Connelly (Guy) and Colby Breithaupt (Claire Beth); great- grandchildren Abraham Breithaupt, Jackson and Kaden Burgess, Evelyn Daquanno, and Lilah Barnes; brother, Frank Breithaupt (Mattie), and sister Patty Breithaupt Buell (Richard).
The family would like to express their appreciation to the employees of Non-Stop Scaffolding, who were Justin\'s second family and friends for many years, and to his special caregivers LaSherie and James Sneed, Latonia Ephraim, Newton Mayweather, and Dorothy Carter.
