Mansfield, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Kay Elizabeth Smith, 75, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA with Rev. Larry Bryant and Bro. Gary Poarch officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Mansfield Funeral Home on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Kay was born September 3, 1942, in Mitchell, LA to Bernice Elizabeth Nichols and Willard Samuel Nichols. She passed away on April 24, 2018, at her home in Mansfield, LA. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Preceding Kay in death were her father, Willard Samuel Nichols; husband, Ben Eugene Smith, and brother, Ronnie Samuel Nichols. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Berniece Elizabeth Nichols; sons, Stephen Smith of Mansfield, LA, and Kenneth Smith and wife Terri of Shreveport, LA; daughter Vonda R. Poarch and husband Gary of Hornbeck, LA; sister Sue Hill and husband Donald of Converse, LA; brothers Loye Nichols of Converse, LA, and Carl Nichols and wife Freddie of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Honoring Kay as pallbearers will be Jim Files, Charlie Young, Mark Haynes, Darryl Bailes, Dick Hendricks, and Lee Caudle. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
