SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for William Kenneth (Pap) Taylor, 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. David Radford. Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the funeral home. Kenneth (Pap) was the fourth child born to Bentley Kenion and Violet Cantrell Taylor on May 27, 1945, in Converse, Louisiana. He is the older of two sons with 7 sisters. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1964. Kenneth was a building contractor and the owner of Kenneth Taylor Builders, as well as a Fireman for the Shreveport Fire Department. Later, Kenneth went to work for Rose-Neath Funeral Home as the Maintenance Supervisor, retiring in 2014. After retiring, Kenneth and Jean continued to live in Shreveport, Louisiana. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Kenneth enjoyed family cookouts and playing cards at the casino. He was known for his love of fish fries and barbeques and is one of the best at cooking both. Pap was known as the rock of his family. He believed in standing by his family through thick and thin. He was a family man and always took great love and pride in his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends. His dry sense of humor gave joy to everyone he met. He is preceded in death by his parents Bentley and Violet Taylor, his sisters, Betty Floyd, Linda Gouthiere, Donna Reynolds and two nephews Daryl Floyd and Tristin Gunn. He is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Jean Hailey Taylor; Three daughters: Kim Tuminello, husband, Curtis Tuminello of Bossier City, LA, Lisa Rodgers, husband, John Rogers of Appling, GA, and Kandace Gruner, husband Mark Gruner of Shreveport, LA; and proclaimed daughter Laurie McGehee of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren: Joshua DeLoach, Taylor Silva, Hailey Rogers, Tanner DeLoach and girlfriend Makenze Matthews, Gunner Gruner, Anna Rogers, Brooke Tuminello, and Corey and Payton Olsen; two great grandchildren: Gabriel Silva and Rhett Horton; sisters, Shelby Ellzey, Connie Avant, Delvie Parker, and Carol Huddleston; one brother, Roy Taylor; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Honoring Pap as pallbearers will be Josh DeLoach, Tanner DeLoach, Gunner Gruner, Cory Olson, Mark Gruner, Curtis Tuminello, and John Rogers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pap's great-grandchildren, Gabriel Maverick Silvas, and Rhett Horton. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Shreveport Fire Department Station #11, EMS #3, Officer Cody Roy with the Shreveport Police Department for all of their quick response, kindness, and care of our father, and keeping us together in a much needed time in our lives.
