Jo Keasler, God\'s beloved child and faithful servant, entered the presence of her Savior on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at age 93. Jo enjoyed good health through most of her life before recently being diagnosed with cancer. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Mike Anderson. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Jo was born April 28, 1923, in Scurry, TX, to Howell and Maudie Brock Vinson, later living in Fort Worth. After trusting Jesus as her Savior at age 15, she served Him with a sincere and active faith for the rest of her life. She studied commercial art and oil painting at Texas State College for Women and Texas Christian University. Jo moved to Shreveport at age 24, where she became the first secretary of Bible Memory Association. She married William C. Keasler, Jr., her loving husband of 56 years, and raised four children. She loved music and had a lovely alto voice, singing in the church choir and in countless duets with Bill. Over the years she taught many children in Sunday school and Good News Clubs, and served on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship. She enjoyed painting and sketching, crossword puzzles, playing dominoes and Scrabble with her family, and loved her cat Dixie. Over the years she worked as a secretary, taught art classes, sold office supplies, sold real estate, and was landlord over several rental properties. She attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Bible Church and Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Keasler; son, Jim Keasler; and sisters, Juanita Neel and Wanda Dover. Surviving are sons, Bob Keasler and wife Therese, and Dan Keasler, all of Shreveport, LA; daughter, JoAnn Prestridge and husband Raymond, of Weatherford, TX; daughter-in-law, Lynn Keasler, of Potterville, MI; eight grandchildren, Jana, Nathan, Melissa, Carissa, Micah, Meghan, Fawn, and Savanna; nine great-grandchildren; brother, C.T. Vinson; and sister, Jean Stivers. The family suggests memorials be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 348, Warrenton, MO 63383-0348.
