Larry was born in Atlanta, GA to Earl W. Johnson and Thelma B. Weirich. He worked in the maintenance department at General Motors in Shreveport, LA for many years.
Throughout his life he won the trust and hearts of many and helped change many lives for God. Known for his ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of the extreme shyness of his youth. His constant smiling, laughter, and joking around will never be forgotten. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, four wheeler riding, computers/technology, fishing and fixing anything in sight; but most importantly, loved to minister Gods word to reach the lost.
Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Johnson; 2 sisters, Ann North and Donice Edney; son, Mark Johnson; 2 daughters and their spouses, Nicole and Darryl Yancey, Michelle and Ben Arceneaux; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Yancey, Peyton Spicer, Hudson Spicer, Kaitlyn Arceneaux; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl W. Johnson; mother, Thelma B. Weirich; and brother Richard E. Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Castaway Ministries.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all the family and friends.
