SHREVEPORT, LA -Memorial services celebrating the life of Larry James Shelton, 57, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at B.P.O.E. Shreveport Lodge #122, 310 E. Preston Ave., Shreveport, LA 71105. Officiating will be Jerry Hodge of University Church of Christ. There will be a reception to follow at the Lodge after the service.
Larry was born November 29, 1956 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany and passed away on June 28, 2014. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Turnage. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 26 years, Cyndra Shelton; son, Jacob Shelton Salts and his wife, Wendy; three grandchildren, Chris, Casey and Crystal Wactor; sister, Donna Arnold; niece, Nicole Shelton; niece, Connie Cramer; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephew and great friends. His four legged children, "Megan" Beagle, "Little Red Dog, I Lean", "Maybelline" and "Big Boy". He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry's career was working in the Solid Waste Industry including the City of Shreveport and several major disposal companies. For the past 7 years he was a Co-Owner in the On-Time Waste Disposal in Bossier City, LA. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Shreveport Lodge #122, and he is a past Exalted Ruler of the Lodge. He also is on the Board of Trustees of the Lodge.
Honoring Larry as pallbearers will be Van Barnett, Jodie Blackwell, Jim Cade, Mark Dutton, Richard Gibbs, Rick Hatton, Kenny Horton and Roy Washington.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Anderson, David Buker, Steven "Crash" Carrier, Gary Colvin, James Harmon, Derrick Harris, John Howard, Ed Jackson, Travis Speer and Ray Urban.
The family suggests memorial donations be made in Larry's honor to the B.P.O.E. Lodge #122 Scholarship Fund.
