Lauma Lacis Schmidt

Funeral services for Lauma Lacis Schmidt, 78, will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Father Michael Cannon.

Lauma was born on August 18, 1946, in Hamburg, Germany to Voldemars and Arija Lacis and passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

Lauma was a resident of Shreveport and attended Fair Park High School and Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. She worked for Western Electric and was an AT&T Tester. She loved gardening, taking care of people, decorating for every holiday, cross-stitch, and was most proud of her Oak Alley Canvas that took her eight years to complete.

Lauma is preceded in death by her parents, Voldemars and Arija Lacis; and husband, Edwin Schmidt. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Michael Carroll, William Jeffery Carroll; son-in-law, Shane Michael Carroll; grandsons, James Ryan Carroll and wife, Jessica, and Charles Reid Carroll; sister, Aina McNeill and husband, Mike; nephew, Scott McNeill; and brother, Leon Lacis

Honoring Lauma as pallbearers will be Billy Carroll, Jimmy Carroll, Scott McNeill, Shane Carroll, Ryan Carroll, and Reid Carroll.
