Our Mother, Laura Anne Fletcher Perrett, of Logansport, Louisiana, was born on April 3, 1934, to Hugh Oliver and Robbie Singletary Fletcher and died August 12, 2017, at the age of 83.
Mom lived most of her life in Logansport, where she was co-owner of Perrett\'s Food Store and Shelter Insurance. She received her Bachelor\'s in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Master\'s Plus 30 from Louisiana State University. She was a 6th. grade and later 3rd grade teacher at Central School Corporation for 11 years. After retirement from Central she taught in the Desoto Parish School System for 20 years.
Mom remained active in many organizations, that included Order of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Kappa Phi Sororities, Friends of Desoto Parish Library, Friends of 4-H, Member of Logansport First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Daughter of the Republic of Texas.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Hugh Oliver Fletcher Jr. (Buddy) and Dr. Bobby Hugh Fletcher. She is survived by her sister, Dr. Gail Fletcher Dubois and husband Monroe, sister-in-law Barbara Fletcher, brother-in-law, William B. Perrett and wife Sally Perrett, her children and their families, John W. Perrett and wife Beth, Mary Elizabeth Perrett Nail and husband Rusty, Sarah Perrett-Hunter, Grandchildren, Chelsey Leigh Hunter Smith and Husband Sam Smith III, Joseph Fletcher Perrett, William Jackson Perrett, Matthew Christian Lee and Caroline Anne Lee. Special Niece and nephew, Dr. Denise Fletcher King and Dr. Bobby Hugh Fletcher Jr.
Mon was a caring, kind and loving person who gave of herself freely with no recognition needed. She was known for her greeting card ministry that touched many lives. She loved her family, friends and the children she touched through her Christian ministry and education of her students. She always put others first above herself and judged no one.
A family graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery and a memorial service, Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 AM, at Logansport First Baptist Church.
Our family would like to thank a special group of people for the care of Mom, to include Dr. Richard Zweig, the staff of Regional Hospice Shreveport, Kristy Austin, Connie Murphy, Debbie Brakefield, Julie Vail, Toni Smith and Dave McKinney, Hospice Chaplain. We also would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Timothy Roberson for his care and comfort during this difficult time.
