BOSSIER CITY, LA - Laverne Marie McDaniel, 74, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 as a result of several medical conditions. She was a widow of 23 years to her husband, Edwin McDaniel. She is survived by a sister, Fleta Nix; her children, Debra Wooten and husband, Joseph, Jennifer Middleton and husband, David, Edward McDaniel and wife, Tamra and Chester McDaniel and wife, Rhonda. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great children.
Ms. McDaniel was a native of Russellville, AL and a resident of Shreveport since 1961 where she began her long list of accomplishments by winning a beauty pageant in 1962. Laverne had several careers in which she excelled. In the 1960\'s and 1970\'s she owned and operated a beauty shop and taught at the local beauty school. During this time she also ran a local beauty pageant, "All American Face\", which gave women of all ages, and size a chance to show case their beautiful faces.
From 1991 to 2014 she worked as a real estate broker in LA and AL and received many awards for her achievements in the real estate field. From 2005 to 2010, she worked in small roles in the movie industry until her health started to decline in 2010.
She will be remembered for the independent, strong, opinioned, intelligent and caring individual who was loved by many.
A memorial service will be at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel, Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service Wednesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
