LaVerne Christine Stokes

LaVerne Christine Stokes, age 75, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. LaVerne was born on May 29, 1942 in Waveland, Arkansas. She was a lifelong resident of Blanchard and a member of the Blanchard Church of the Nazarene. She treasured her family and took great joy in her siblings, children, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them as well as her friends. She is preceded in death by her father, J.W. Adkison, mother, Ruth Marie Adkison, brothers, Cecil "Buddy" Adkison, James W. Adkison III, daughter, Roxie Ann Reed, and grandson, Jared Riner. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Charles Stokes, daughters, Peggy Lynette Ashby and Mary Ruth Reed; grandchildren, Joshua Ashby and wife Valerie, Levi Ashby, McKenzie Ashby, Hunter Reed, Zackary Reed, Ryan Smith and wife Brittany, and Kristyn Self; great-grandchildren, Carter Ashby, Claire Ashby, Aria Gaudin, Oliver Reed, Jackson Cooper, Maverick Smith and Haley Weather. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Blanchard Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens North. Officiating will be Rev. Delbert Terry. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Honoring LaVerne as pallbearers will be Brian McElhannon, Hunter Reed, Joseph Starks, Joshua Ashby, Levi Ashby, Logan Gennaro, and Zackary Reed.
