Lawrence Alan Laubscher

Funeral services for Lawrence Alan "Larry" Laubscher will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time service starts. Pastor Kendall Holley will officiate the service. Larry was born July 17, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Raymond and Vivian Williams Laubscher. He passed away on May 19, 2021, at the age of 71. Larry graduated in 1967 from Maple Heights Senior High School in Cleveland, Ohio where he excelled in football and wrestling. In 1971 he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 21. After completion of basic training, he attended technical training at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois, graduating as a cryogenics specialist. His first assignment took him to Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand to complete two tours. While stationed in Thailand, he met his soon to be bride, Rumpan. Larry continued his duties and tours which took him all over the globe including Vietnam. In October of 1973, Larry and Rumpan married and had two children, Jason and Marla. Larry proudly served 26 years in the Air Force and was the recipient of many awards and military decorations. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming First Sergeant in 1993 (winning Eighth Air Force First Sergeant of the Year, 1994) and being promoted as Chief Master Sergeant in 1996. He loved his country, had a passion for politics and the Republican Party, along with embracing conservatism. In 1997, Larry retired from the military and began working for Conoco-Phillips, which was later bought out by Couche-Tard, a global convenience sector that operates Circle K Convenience Stores along with a few other brands. He worked at the company for over 20 years as their Human Resource Manager. While Larry wasn't at work, he loved to fish. He would frequent Cypress Lake, but Larry also enjoyed fishing in Alaska. He would also spend time tinkering with gadgets and was known as a "Mr. Fix-it". He was organized, meticulous, and a hard worker, but he was also easy-going, funny, and a good listener. His family always felt as though they could talk to him about anything, and without judgment, he would help them find a solution. His patience and love for his family were especially shown when he spent time with his grandchildren, which was truly what he enjoyed doing (along with watching Cleveland sports). Larry will truly be missed by all that knew him. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Laubscher Jr., and his beloved Pug, Myrte. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rumpan Seerom Laubscher; son, Jason Laubscher and wife, Whitney and daughter, Marla Reade and husband, Michael; stepson, Ken Weerorochet; and grandchildren, Gracie, Maia, Boston, and Liliana.
