Graveside Services were held for Mr. Lelon “Buddy” Griggs, Jr., age 72, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun, LA, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Steve Beard, officiated. Visitation was at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5^th St, Homer, LA, on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Buddy was born in Arcadia, LA, on March 16, 1950, to Thelma Miller and Lelon Griggs, Sr. He entered into rest on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Homer, LA. Buddy worked at Homer National Bank and later became a rural mail carrier for the Minden Post Office. He was a life-long fan for both the Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sandra Coates Griggs; two sons, Andrew Miller Griggs and wife Katrina of Blanchard, LA and Corey Marshall and wife Caitlyn of Denison, Tx; two daughters, Miriam Elizabeth Griggs of Doyline, LA and Paige Tabor and husband Russell of Stonewall, LA; a sister, Alice McKinney and husband Scooter of Little Rock, AR; eleven grandchildren, Gavin Griggs, Cheyenne Griggs, A.J. Griggs, Lathan Tabor, Landon Tabor, Lawson Tabor, Shayna Nipper, Malayna Nipper, Baker Marshall, Briar Marshall, and Alyssah Sites; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Buddy’s family would like to express their gratitude to Regional Hospice, Dr. Scott Haynes, Dr. Mark Haynes and their staffs for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers honoring Buddy, his family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s choice.
