Leo Cryer, 94, went to be the Lord Jesus on Monday July 31, 2017.
Leo was born April 30, 1923 in Fullerton, Louisiana to John and Beulah Cryer. He met his future bride, Virginia Florence Ice, on the baseball field in Shreveport, Louisiana. Although, he managed to snatch the ball away from her, she won his heart. They married in Marshall, Texas on October 4, 1942.
Leo enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1943 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Virginia traveled with Leo while he was serving in the Air Force, along with their son Steve.
Leo was an Electrician with the I.B.E.W #194 for 60 years, starting out at an electric supply house. He worked for various electrical companies, finally retiring from Camus Electrical to attend to Virginia who had become ill.
Leo was a wonderful husband to Virginia, and encouraging father to his children, Steve, Carol and Janet. Leo became a Deacon at Queensborough Baptist Church following the footsteps of his father, John Cryer. His son Steve and his son-in-law Lynn, also became a Deacon while serving the Lord at Queensborough. All three children came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior influenced by Leo and Virginia attending church and teaching them to obey God's Word and follow his direction.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, his parents, John and Beulah Cryer, two sons, Leo C. Cryer, Jr. and Russell Thomas Cryer, and one granddaughter, Christina Michelle Wheeler. Left to continue his legacy are children, Steve Cryer (Keitha), Carol Craig (Lynn), and Janet Ardoin (Greg). The granddaughters whom he always took to the camp at Lake Monterey, were Delia Jeffcoat (Jon), Ashley Mclean (Shon), Wendy Peterman (Jason), Suzanne Neely (Trae), and Shannon Johnson (Jeff). Great grandchildren are Avery Jeffcoat, Macy and Mabry Mclean, Joshua and Jacob Peterman, Arleigh and Connor Neely, Bailey and Brayden Johnson.
Leo lived a good and faithful life and was ready to join his bride in heaven. He lived by John 3:16 that says it all.
