SHREVEPORT, LA - Leo Joseph Hack, 85, passed away January 7, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Father Philip F. Michiels of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leo was born on October 8, 1929 in Detroit, MI to Leo F. and Martha M. Hack. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. While stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base he met his wife and began his career in law enforcement. He worked for the Shreveport Police Department where he became a Detective and retired at the rank of Major. He then worked for the City Marshall's Office and retired as Chief Deputy Marshall for the City of Shreveport. Leo was a long time member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and then became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty M. Hack, infant son, Ronald E. Hack, and sister, Loretta Pritchard. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Donna Hack Brown and husband, Paul, and Patsy Hack Thomas; grandchildren, Stacey Vassar and husband Rick, Natalie McDaniel and husband, Zach, Jeff Brown and wife, Heather, Joe Brown and wife, Jackie, and Rob Thomas; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Haley, Katelyn, Nicole, Jackson, Allie, Landon, Carson and Drake; niece, Pam Sander and brother-in-law, Stan Pritchard.
Honoring Leo as pallbearers will be Jeff Brown, Rob Thomas, Joe Brown, Nathan Levario, Rick Vassar, and Zach McDaniel.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Richard Haynie, and the residents and staff at Azalea Estates.
