Leo N. Plette, 94, died on June 9, 2024. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, on May 27, 1930 and lived in Bossier City since 1973.
Leo was a 22-year Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving around the world as a Nuclear Weapons Maintenance Superintendent before retiring from Barksdale AFB as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1976. He graduated in 1980 with Honors, from Louisiana Tech University, with a degree in Business Administration. He was employed by SWEPCO as a Financial Analyst and retired in 1995.
Leo was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church from 1975, serving as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, playing a key role in the Christ the King Food Pantry and was honored by the Pope as a recipient of the Order of Saint Gregory.
Leo is survived by his wife of 73 years, Pauline Plette and five children; Susan Richards(Frank), Cindy Ashcraft, Leo Plette(Dede) David Plette(Alyssa) and Richard Plette(Lisa); eight grandchildren; Joseph Richards(Abby), Paul Richards(Charlene) Matthew Ashcraft(Hayley), Phillip Plette(Kayleigh), Michael Plette(Mary Arthur), Kaylan Worley(Kristi), Jacob Plette and Andrew Plette; and eleven great-grandchildren; Evan, George, Caroline, Teddy, Leo Oliver, Stella, Aniya, Lucy, Sam, Eva and Beckham.
Serving as pallbearers are the grandsons Joseph Richards, Paul Richards, Matthew Ashcraft, Phillip Plette, Michael Plette, Kaylan Worley, Jacob Plette and Andrew Plette.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Queen of Peace Food Pantry, 7738 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, LA 71112.
Visitation will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 7738 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at the church hall. Leo will be interred in a private graveside service at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville. Officiating the service will be Monsignor Earl Provenza, Father Karl Daigle and Deacon Michael Straub.
