Leo Wayne Upchurch

Leo “Wayne” Upchurch was born in McQueen, Oklahoma to Jesse Allen and Lottie Koger Upchurch, October 11, 1935, and went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and two brothers.

Wayne was raised on a cotton farm in southwestern Oklahoma along with a sister and two brothers. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Oklahoma graduating with a degree in Business Administration.

After graduation he went to work in the retail industry, having managerial positions with Woolworth, TG&Y, and Walmart. He married Patricia Wilson in 1961. They lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, and Louisiana having worked in stores in Tulsa, Oklahoma; St. Louis, East St. Louis, and Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Carbondale, Illinois, and New Orleans, Shreveport, and Minden, Louisiana.

Wayne learned at an early age the importance of family. He faithfully served the Lord as a church member and a deacon for many years. He enjoyed carpentry, repairing things, and playing baseball and tennis with his sons and grandsons. He looked forward to continuing that tradition with his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by (wife) Patricia and sons: Tommy (Karen) Upchurch, Granddaughter, Ashley (Clay) Norman, Great-grandchildren, Edmon and Nash Norman, and Grandson, Joshua (Kathryn) Upchurch, Great-grandchildren, Bear and Alexandra Upchurch, son, Terry (Melissa) Upchurch; Grandchildren, William and Rebecca Upchurch.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana with a visitation at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
