Rodessa, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Leon Hindsman, age 73 will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce St., Vivian, LA with Rev. Eddie Briery, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Vivian, LA officiating. Interment will follow at the Good Exchange Cemetery in McLeod, TX. There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday, August 4th from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Hindsman was born in Snow Hill, LA on December 13, 1941 to Marcus Holmes and Alma Beatrice Scarborough Hindsman and passed away at his residence on August 1, 2015 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Rodessa, LA for 44 year and a former resident of McLeod, TX. Mr. Hindsman was a floor hand in the Oilfield Industry.
Mr. Hindsman was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary Leon Hindsman, grandson, James Keith Hindsman, siblings, Bennie Hindsman, James Hindsman, Elizabeth Williamson, Marcus "Bubba" Hindsman, Jr., Nora Weems, Emma Jean Hammond and Franklin Hindsman. He is survived by his wife and caregiver of 44 years, Juanita Sprayberry Hindsman of Rodessa, LA; two sons, William "Billy" Clarence Hindsman of Livingston, TX and Kevin Neal Hindsman and spouse, Dr. Aaron Luckey of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Vicki Hindsman Fitzgerald and husband, Johnny of Vivian, LA; sister, Dorothy Jester of Vivian, LA and Richard Hindsman of McLeod, TX. Mr. Hindsman is also survived by his grandchildren, William Hindsman, Jr., Claudia Sue Beane, Haley Westbrook, Stormy Fitzgerald, Grant Fitzgerald, Landon Hindsman Luckey, Lillie Hindsman Luckey, Avyn Hindsman Luckey, Elijah Kang and 5 great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, Pennie Terry, Susan Ragland, Bobby and Hunter Sprayberry.
Honoring Mr. Hindsman as pallbearers will be Grant Fitzgerald, Matthew Terry, Charlie Parker, Richard Nicholson, Fleix Prince, C. E. Bourne, Wesley Nutt and Sam Curry. Honorary pallbearer will be J. B. May.
