Leroy was raised on a farm to a hard-working and large loving family. Many values were instilled in him as a child which he carried throughout his life. Leroy worked in the oil field his entire working career. Dad started his oilfield career in 1945 for Penrod Drilling Company and achieved up to the position of Assistant General Manager in Dallas, TX. Leroy then worked for H&P Drilling Company until his retirement in 1987 as a Drilling Manager in Tulsa, OK.
Dad's dreams put into action, mentored many young and fine hands in the oilfield who credit him for their success. Dad always had the end result in mind. His end result was to retire to the farm, raising cows and crops, on the same land that he plowed with a mule as a boy and a young man.
Leroy was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was baptized in Ruple Baptist Church where he was a deacon, and loved taking part in vacation bible school where he was known by many as "Pawpaw the Snowcone Man," a title he cherished.
