Lewis Ray Bryant

Lewis Ray Bryant passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 27, 2023. He suffered a stroke in early September and was not able to recover.

Lewis was born in Shreveport on March 9, 1934, to Lewis Lee and Catherine Elizabeth McDonald Bryant. Lewis graduated from Fair Park High School and served in the Naval Reserves. He lived for many years in Natchitoches where he was an insurance agent and later owned an inspection business. While living in Logansport, he was elected as a City Councilman. Later in his life he worked at Rose-Neath Funeral Home where he had a natural gift for talking to families and offering comfort.

Lewis was always involved in the church wherever he lived. When his sons were young, he served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. Lewis never met a stranger and had many dear friends throughout his life. He was a kind soul and loved to sit and talk for hours with family and friends. He loved sports, especially enjoying LSU Football and cheering for the New Orleans Saints. Lewis also loved his little dog Katy who was his treasured companion.

• Lewis is survived by Margie Bryant, his wife of 34 years, his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Eve Bryant and grandchildren, Isaac and Nathan Bryant; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Betty Bryant, grandson Beau and his wife Jami; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bruce Magnuson, granddaughter Laura Kate; Kelli and Allen Ford and children Caleb and Caitlyn; and Chris Brown; as well as many adoring great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Thomas Lee Bryant and his wife Mary; and by his niece Ann Bryant.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor John M. Korlaske from the Ellerbe Road Methodist Church. Burial will follow at OE Price Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Mansfield, Louisiana location of Rose-Neath.

Pallbearers will be Damon Blue, Caleb Ford, Beau Bryant, Nathan Bryant, Paul Ross Bryant and Terry Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Brown, Jack Blue, Isaac Bryant, Tom Collins, Wil Ferris, Allen Ford, Steven Johnson, Tommy Veillon and King Vidler.
