Coushatta, LA - Celebration of life and going home service for Lillian Jewell Calhoun, 94, will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Coushatta at 10:00 AM with Dr. Nathan Davis officiating and assisted by Reverend Bill Hines. Interment will follow at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, LA. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, LA.
Mrs. Calhoun was born August 27, 1921, in Armistead, LA, to Marshall David and Mary Lou Flanagan went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2015, in Coushatta, LA. During her lifetime, she worked at the Council on Aging for 35 years for Red River Parish. She was mother of the year for Red River Parish and Grand Marshal of the parade in 2008 in Red River Parish. She served her Lord faithfully and strived to help others in need. She will be greatly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were husbands, Otis Hayden Calhoun and James Vernon Calhoun; parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Louis Daniel "Dan" Calhoun of Houston, TX and Jimmy Lynn Calhoun of Timpson, TX; daughter, Theda Rhea Johnson of Deer Park, TX; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Johnson, Alex Johnson, Bryan Wilson, Sean Deas, Zach Calhoun, and Lee Hardy. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Stroud, Russell Stevens, Fred Clark, Lee Liles, Will Almond and Winn Almond.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be donated to the First Baptist Church of Coushatta or Red River Council on Aging.
