Lillian Milliner Berry Martin, age 96, a longtime resident of Shreveport passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, November 30, 2015.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 900 Jordan Street, officiated by Rev. Dr. Chris Currie. A reception will follow in the church. A private burial will be held prior to the service.

Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A native of Saline, LA, Mrs. Martin grew up in Sibley, LA. She was born June 1, 1919 to John William and Winnie Elizabeth Tomlinson Berry. She was the ninth of ten children and out-lived not only all her siblings, but several nieces and nephews. After graduating as Salutatorian of her class at Sibley High School, she graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, now Louisiana Tech University, in 1940 with a degree in Business Administration where she also earned her teaching certificate following graduation. She worked for Southwestern Electric Power Company until her marriage to William Jackson \"Jack\" Martin on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1947. Family was such an important part of her life that she delayed full-time teaching until her children were grown. She retired from Caddo Parish Schools in 1982, and she continued to provide education and guidance to many her entire life in many ways, including Volunteers of America and Louisiana Association for the Blind. She was also a longtime active member of First Presbyterian Church. Recently she was recognized by Louisiana Tech University as a 75-year alumna.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her children, Kay Martin Atchison and husband John, and William J. Martin, Jr. \"Billy\" and wife Mary, and four grandchildren: Chris Paugh and wife Heather, Betsy Martin Turner and husband Ian, John Martin and wife Allyson, and Amy Atchison. \"Gi-gi\" is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Georgia, Carly, and Nolan Paugh; Lucia and William Turner; and Owen Eddins. Also surviving her are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family as well as many friends whom she cherished.

Honoring Lil as pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family suggests memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 900 Jordan St, Shreveport, LA 71101 or to the charity of the donor\'s choice.
