SHREVEPORT, LA - A beautiful, loving servant of God, Lillie Marie Byrd Behan, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2017. Born March 11, 1929 in Hornbeck, LA, she lived a wonderful 88 years as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Providence Road Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Bro. Steve Gilley and Bro. Darrell Dean. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA.
Lillie served the Lord with gladness in her church, home and anywhere she was needed. She was a dedicated worker at Western Electric for years. Her always welcoming smile and home cooked meals will be missed by all.
Lillie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Riley and Sarah Byrd; husband, James Louis Behan, Sr.; brothers, Eunice Byrd, Melton Byrd, and Raymond Byrd; and sister, Verlene Byrd. She is survived by her son, James Louis Behan, Jr. and wife, Penny; daughters, Rita Wakefield, and Rhonda Masch and husband, Fred; also by one brother, Sherman Donnell Byrd and wife, Bonnie, all of Shreveport. Lillie was loved by her three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Honoring Lillie as pallbearers will be, Billy Byrd, Lee Byrd, Jason Byrd, Jerry Lee, and Morgan Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Byrd and Jim Booker.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Glen Retirement System and Southern Care Hospice and Dr. Billy Bickham.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
