Linda Gayle Tippett Dillard died on Monday, March 15, 2021 after suffering a stroke days earlier. She was 77 years old. Linda was born on April 30, 1943 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. She met the love of her life, Barry Dillard, while in high school and they married at Broadmoor Baptist Church in 1964. Linda and Barry had been happily married for 36 years when he passed away in 1999. Linda will best be remembered by family and friends as a faithful Christian and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She humbly led her husband to Christ by example and touched so many lives throughout her Christian walk. She was most recently a member of University Church of Christ, but leaves a legacy of service with her Christian families at Church of Christ/North and Airline Dr. Church of Christ. Linda is preceded in death by beloved husband, Barry Lee Dillard; father, James Lee Tippett, Sr.; mother, Inez Brasher Tippett; and sister-in-law, Myrna Dillard Anderson. She is survived by one brother, James Lee Tippett, Jr. (Janet); one sister, Dorothy Tippett Miller; one daughter, Barri Lynn Chandler (Red); two sons, Darren Keith Dillard (Ashley) and Breck Tippett Dillard (Becky); eight grandchildren, Courtney Lauren Chandler (fiancé, Jayson Grant), Colby Jordan Chandler (Grace), Chase Austin Chandler (Abbey Grace), Mason Alexander Dillard, Jackson Lee Dillard, Brady Stone Dillard, Madeline Kate Dillard, and Kaleigh Marie Soto; great-granddaughters, Georgia Grace Chandler and Addley Rene Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews; including special niece, Glynnda Anderson Perkins. A memorial service will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Honoring Linda as pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Widow's Ministry at University Church of Christ, 2045 E 70th St, Shreveport, LA 71105, Bossier KIDS, Inc., 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111 or Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue, 431 Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71104.
