HAYNESVILLE, LA: Linda Colleen Watson Thompson was ushered into Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 29, 2021.
Colleen was born on September 27, 1961 in Ruston, Louisiana to the late Gene Watson and Judy Watson. Colleen received her Bachelors and Masters in Education from Louisiana Tech University, which she was immensely proud of. Colleen was a very gifted teacher with a true love for her students and their desire to learn. It never failed for past students to reach out to Colleen to thank her for the impact that she had on their personal and professional life.
Colleen married the love of her life, D'wayne Thompson on November 14, 1999. Her children John and Tommy were the most precious gifts that she and D'wayne ever received.
Colleen had a very special cousin, Candee Anderson. The bond that they shared was more that of sisters. They were the best of friends and always there for each other. Colleen even named her beloved Pekingese, Candee and would have to specify whether she was speaking of "Cousin Candee or Dog Candee".
Colleen loved her Lord more than anything on this side of Heaven. She was the most powerful prayer warrior not only to her friends and family but even to absolute strangers. God always led her to the people that needed her most! She was a true representation of what being the hands and feet of Jesus really meant.
Colleen was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Homer, Louisiana where she was a member of the choir and loved using her voice to worship Jesus and bless others. She also served in the Children's Ministry as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a member of the DAR, Athens Garden Club, Homer Garden Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Colleen had a special love for her nieces and nephews Cassie Watson, Kaley Watson, Lane Banks, Regan DeMaso, Trey DeMaso, Crystal Couch, Amanda Greer, Heather Walker, Elizabeth Milam and Damon Thompson and never failed to have them birthday gifts and Christmas gifts, even if they arrived in March.
Colleen was the most compassionate friend anyone could ask for. If there was ever a time of need, she was the first to be there with her arms open wide with the most delicious meal you could have ever thought of.
Colleen impacted her community with her generous nature and love for throwing a good party. She was always hosting a fabulous event, whether it be a hayride, Holiday party, Graduation Party or even special birthday parties for the children of her friends where lemonade was served in champagne flutes!
Colleen was a true Southern Belle. She had a genuine love for lots of coffee in the morning and a good glass of homemade sweet tea with a special lemon on the side and don't even think of running out of diet coke. She always had a starter kit of friendship bread and doilies on all of her serving trays that were laced with homemade chocolate chip cookies and jazzed up with some glitz and special ribbon, just to add the special Colleen touch. There was always fresh flowers on the table and you might even find some in the bathroom.
Colleen and D'wayne took a special trip this summer to Florida with John, Tommy and Sydney Elizabeth. Colleen decided that on the way home they would detour to Luling, Louisiana to take a trip down memory lane of Colleen's childhood. They went to the old home place, her elementary school which also happened to be her first teaching position, her favorite spot on the water where she use to pick blackberries with the alligators, and to eat at Deanie's one of her favorite little restaurants famous for their daiquiri ice cream and Southern Fried Fish. This was a trip that was definitely orchestrated by Colleen and Jesus.
Colleen was preceded in death by her father, Gene Watson and her brother-in-law Jerry DeMaso. She is survived by her husband, D'wayne Thompson and sons John Thompson and special friend Sydney Elizabeth Owens and Tommy Thompson of Haynesville, and Adam Thompson of Shreveport, her daughter Bailey Thompson of Shreveport and her children Brinley and Brennon Colvard, her mother, Judy Watson of Ruston, her sister Kim DeMaso of Charlotte, North Carolina and her brothers Emory Eugene Watson, Jr., and wife Tammy of Vancouver, WA, John Keith Waston of Mellbrae, CA, and Tommy and Janet Thompson.
Pall Bearers will be Joe Anderson, Anthony Couch, Wade Holloway, Mark Owens, Jerome Milam, and Mike White.
