Lizzie Ruth Schilling

Funeral services for Lizzie “Ruth” (Girlinghouse) Schilling will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Brother Cleave Cyrus.

Lizzie “Ruth” (Girlinghouse) Schilling, 91, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Ruth was born July 1, 1933, in Jena, Louisiana to the late William “Zeke” and Glennie “Naomi” (Kees) Girlinghouse of La Salle Parish, Louisiana.

Ruth was a Godly woman who lived out her faith daily. She served as a pastor’s wife for 67 years. She was a life member of the Woman's Missionary Society (WMS) often housing foreign missionaries in her home while they visited the states. She was a faithful member, teacher, and supporter of the Holley Springs Southern Methodist Church in Coushatta, Louisiana, and will be sadly missed by the dear friends she made there. She loved to cook for family and when her health allowed, work in her large yard. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Ira Robert Schilling; daughter, Ruthi Schilling Young; her parents and eight siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Paul Schilling, and his wife, Ann; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Honoring Ruth as pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brent, Wade, Adam, Baeleigh, Bryce, and Eli with Corey serving as an honorary pallbearer. 

The family would like to recognize LifePath Hospice for their home health care, with special thanks given to Alison, Jackie, and Brook. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to Holley Springs WMS (2745 Hwy 507. Coushatta, LA 71019) or Boys Farm (PO Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108).
