KEITHVILLE, LA - Funeral services for Lonnie Lee Lindsey, 72, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Grawood Baptist Church in Keithville, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Willcutt. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home.
Lonnie was born February 7, 1943 in Pleasant Hill, LA to William Clifton and Alice Council Lindsey and passed away on October 8, 2015 from a lengthy illness. Lonnie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He is a Vietnam Veteran and retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4. After serving his country he worked as a Supervisor at Libbey Glass in the Machine Repair Department. After retiring from Libbey Glass he devoted his time volunteering for the Red Cross Disaster Relief and for his church. Lonnie was also a Mason at the Masonic Lodge #438, Sunset Lodge. Lonnie was an active and devoted member of Grawood Baptist Church and touched many lives throughout the years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ellen Lindsey; siblings, Leland Lindsey, Catherine Lindsey, Clifton Lindsey, Jr., Wiley Lindsey, Helen Lindsey, Vera Lindsey and Bill Lindsey. Those left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rute Lindsey; sons, Steve Lindsey and wife, Carla, and Benjamin Lindsey; daughter, Teri Lindsey Miller; grandchildren, Carlton Lindsey, Hannah Miller, Wilson Lindsey, and Riley Miller; sisters, Bessie Williams, and Donnis Deloach; brothers, Bobby Lindsey and wife, Pat, and Arthur Lindsey and wife, Nellie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Honoring Lonnie as pallbearers will be Kyle Klitzke, Krane Klitzke, Shane West, Crandell Cummings, Jared Edmonds, and Sam Stroope.
The family would like to express their thanks to all of the friends and family who have shown so much love, care, and compassion while visiting Lonnie at the hospital.
