He graduated from Cotton Valley High School in 1956 and headed to Northwestern State University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He began his teaching career at W.G. Richardson Elementary, moved to Sibley High School and finished his career at his beloved Stewart Elementary. He loved all the parents, teachers, staff and children that walked the halls of Stewart.

He also served as a Gideon and visited local prisons with a prison ministry. He served on the board of the Germantown Historical Museum and volunteered at UCAP and Meadowview Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Hannah Thompson Simpson; his parents Gussie Mae Jordan Simpson and Ira Simpson; and sister Rhonda Simpson Thomas.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Stacey and Norman LaFargue; granddaughter, Hannah Marie Marks and his special great grandson, Tripp Thompson Day.
A special thank you goes out to the tremendously kind and loving staff at The Chateaus at Montclair. Thank you as well to the staff of Passages Hospice for their care.
