HOMER, LA: Lorene Wallace Dean of Homer fell asleep in death July 19, 2019 surrounded by family, having succumbed after an eight year bout with Alzheimer's. She was born April 9, 1932, in Franklin Parish, LA. Lorene dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 19, 1942 at the age of 10. While she began her spiritual journey at a tender age, she served her heavenly father loyally throughout her life. She attended Pioneer Service School for an intense study of the scriptures on three different occasions. Although she was unable to attend Christian meetings or participate in sharing the Bible's message of hope door to door in recent months, she often read the Bible or other scriptural material to her caregivers. Lorene was a gifted cook who could whip up mouth-watering rolls, chicken salad and melt in your mouth fresh cream corn, and a talented and prolific gardener. She was known to enjoy a rousing game of Rook after dinner, often one she had lovingly and skillfully prepared for extended family and many beautiful friends. Her vegetables nurtured the body, but her flowers nurtured the soul. Because she put forth all earnest effort to live by Scriptural principles and follow the example of Jesus, Lorene encouraged all she met with her works and pattern of faith. Her favorite advice to share with others was: "Listen, obey, and be blessed." She is preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Lizzie Wallace, her granddaughter: Leah, her grandson: Jonathan, her sister: Bobbie Arsenaux, and her brothers: Charles, Jack, and Ray Wallace. She is survived by two children who were blessed to have her as their devoted mother; her son: Perry Dean and wife, Nelda, and her daughter: Tricia Kleinman and her husband, Ronnie, all of Homer. We are now left to wonder: "Who's gonna fill her shoes?" She is also survived by seven grandchildren who adore their Maw Maw: Rachel Covey (Larry), Matthew Dean, Samuel Dean (Ty), all of Shreveport, Kelli Sharpe (Shawn) of Homer, Kasey Kleinman (Emily) of Hattiesburg, MS, Kody Kleinman (Silvia) of Sacramento, CA, and Kelcey Kleinman (Chelsea) of Puyallup, WA. She has thirteen great-grandchildren who brought much joy and laughter into her life: Justin Warren, Athens, LA, Hayden Dean of Akron, OH, Zachary and Conner Patterson of Shreveport, Camren Dean of Euless, TX, Aaliyah Dean of Shreveport, Isabella Dean of Homer, Jakob, Dylann, and Jackson Sharpe of Homer, Pacey, Lorelai, and Noah Kleinman of Hattiesburg, MS. Lorene leaves behind five siblings with whom she remained lovingly attached throughout her life. Her sisters: Leuraleen Fletcher of Baskin, Christine Davis, Nell Price and Naomi (Billie) Hendrick, all of Homer and her brother: J.A. (Bear) Wallace (Judy) of Claiborne Parish. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who love her dearly and a spiritual family of cherished friends too numerous to count. We wish to express our deep gratitude for those who gave our mother tender care during her extended illness, especially her physician: Dr. Sam Abshire. We keenly appreciate the loving concern shown by her wonderful caregivers: Mona Gallman, Christy Willis, Kathy Gray, Donna Turner, and Bessie Vonner. Mama loved each one of you. We are also indebted to the terrific nurses from Regional Hospice: April Freeman and Ashley Hollenshead. We will never forget the fantastic care you gave us and our mother. You were always there for her to make sure she did not suffer. It is clear to us that you loved her and she loved you. We owe our heartfelt thanks to all of you as well as everyone who touched Mama's life and was touched by her. Lorene will be sorely missed by all who know and love her, but especially by her family. We look forward to seeing her when she will once again be vibrant, healthy, and beautiful in the future earthly paradise promised in the scriptures. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, July 28^th at 3 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Homer. Although Lorene truly loved flowers, she would prefer to further the preaching of the "good news of God's Kingdom" by donations to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 900 Red Mills Road, Wallkill, NY, 12589-5200, an organization that distributes Bibles and scriptural materials at no charge in 240 lands and 981 languages worldwide.
