Benton - Louis T. Baker, Sr., 86, died August 30, 2016. Louis was born April 29, 1930, in Pitt County, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Baker and Bertha Manning Baker Jones; his brothers Charles L. Baker, William T. Baker, and Ben Allen Jones; and sister Mary Baker Kerr.
Louis is survived by his wife Dorothy Cole Baker and two children - Paula Baker (Mark) and Tommy Baker (Lynda). Grandchildren are Rivers Breedlove (Pam), Emily Breedlove, Chris Baker (Jodie), Lee Baker (Jaclyn), and Cole Baker. Great grandchildren are Stefani and Hunter Breedlove, Brooke Daugherty, Landry Baker, and London and Presley Baker. He is also survived by brothers Harvey and John Baker and William E. Jones, and two sisters Betty Riggs and Pat Williams.
Louis served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He met Dorothy at Barksdale Baptist Church, and they married November 9, 1950. Louis worked civil service until retirement when he established Baker Heating and Air in Benton. Later he worked alongside Jeff Girard on sanctioned archaeology digs in Louisiana and Arkansas. Some of Louis' work can be viewed at the Bossier History Center and Cypress Black Bayou Park. Gardening was Louis' forte and he shared his produce with others. We will miss him terribly.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2016, at Williamson Cemetery, Sailes, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Lee Baker of Hoschton, GA. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
