PLEASANT HILL, LA--Funeral services honoring the life of Louise James Maroney, 90, of Pleasant Hill, LA, will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church on Hwy 174 in Pleasant Hill, LA with Reverend Brian Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Cemetery on Hwy 487 in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM.
Jennie Louise James Maroney was born on April 19, 1927 in Marthaville, LA to Frank and Willie Ingram James and entered into rest on August 19, 2017 in Natchitoches, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Waylon D. Maroney; and her youngest son Larry Brandon Maroney; granddaughter, Kelly Dae Wilson; three brothers, Huey James, Elmer "Dick" James, Earl James; and one sister, Ruth Hampton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Waverlyn Wilson and husband Robbie of Natchitoches, LA; Huey Maroney and wife Mary of Shreveport, LA; Basil Maroney and wife Gayla of Pleasant Hill, LA; daughter-in-law, Janet Maroney of Pleasant Hill, LA; three sister-in-laws, Lucille James of Roseville, CA; Deanie James of Marthaville, LA; Odell James of Lumberton, TX; eight grandchildren, Waylon Maroney and wife Ratana of Broussard, LA; Courtney Bolton and husband Darren of White Hall, AR; Tyler Maroney of Shreveport, LA; Basil Maroney, Jr., and wife Dawn of Bossier City, LA; Susan Davis and husband Sean of Shreveport, LA; Rodney Stewart and wife Markie of Natchitoches, LA; Jennifer Callens and husband Jason of Pleasant Hill, LA; Brandon Maroney of Pleasant Hill, LA; and 12 great grandchildren.
Louise was a nurse in her early years at the Prothro Clinic in Pleasant Hill, LA. When she and Waylon married on July 22, 1945, she gave up her career to be a dedicated housewife and wonderful mother raising their children and running "the penal farm" as Waylon would always joke. She was a master cook, she loved cooking, always loved to try new dishes on her family and friends. So many of her children's friends has memories of her cooking and making sure that you were going to eat if you stopped by. Also she was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She made all her grandchildren baby blankets and quilts which they cherish. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She loved her family unconditionally.
Honoring the life of Louise as pallbearers will be her nephews, Dennie Wayne James, Lane James, Sam James, Donald Wise, Dale James, and Vic Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Waylon Maroney, Rodney Stewart, Basil Maroney, Jr., Tyler Maroney, Brandon Maroney, and Coltyn Maroney.
