HOMER, LA: Services for Louise Maurine McDonald, 84, were held at the Lisbon United Methodist Church of on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Terry Willis officiating. Interment followed at Lisbon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Louise was born July 10, 1932 in Lisbon, LA and entered into rest December 27, 2016 at The Glen Village Health Care in Shreveport following a lengthy illness. A graduate of Lisbon High School and Louisiana Tech, she began her Elementary Education career by teaching in Minden for 2 years before moving to Dallas where she enjoyed 40 years at the same school. Upon retirement, she moved to Lake Claiborne where she enjoyed working in the yard and watching the ducks and geese. We are extremely grateful for her Airport Loop neighbors, Kathy and Michael Elwell, who lovingly helped care for Louise in her later years. Louise grew up in Lisbon Methodist Church and returned there upon retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Irene McDonald; sister, Yvonne Gibbs; brothers, William \"Bud\" McDonald and Jimmy McDonald; sisters-in-law, Mary Margaret McDonald and Jackie McDonald; and brothers-in-law, Joe Gibbs and Melvin Haire. Louise is survived by a sister, Jane Haire of Bossier city; a brother, Joe McDonald and vife Jeanette of Shreveport; a sister-in-law, Gwen McDonald of Shreveport; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and long-time friend, Alice Thomason of Minden. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of The Glen, Brookdale, Home Instead Senior Care, and St. Joseph Hospice. Pallbearers were as follows: Brandon Adkins, Stuart Haire, David McDonald, Michael Thomas, Bradley Wilson and Scott Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were as follows: Byron White, David Cascio, Charlie Buckels, Tunis Gaston and Steve Wilson (in memory of). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Lisbon United Methodist Church, 20048 Hwy 2, Lisbon, LA 71048 or Louisiana Methodist Children\'s Home, 901 S. Vienna, Ruston, LA 71270.
