HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Louise Riggs, 84, at First Presbyterian Church of Homer, LA on Thursday, December 8, 2016. The family received friends at the church, on Thursday from 2:30-3:30 p.m. the services began at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Jason Leonard, officiating. Burial followed at Homer's Arlington Cemetery. A longtime resident of Homer, Mrs. Riggs was born December 9, 1931 in Dardanelle, AR to Fred and Eleanor Heath Darby. She passed away comfortably in her home on Sunday, December 4, 2016. She was affectionately known to her family as "Nana," as her love for her grandchildren was special. In addition, she always made time for the children in her neighborhood. She taught by example, with a strong work ethic as a bookkeeper for Homer Drug Company and Claiborne Clerk of Courts for over 30 years. She was loved and will be missed by many. Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Henry C. Riggs, Jr.; her parents; sister, Peggy Floyd; brother-in-law, Bob Floyd; brother, Bill Darby; and son-in-law, Lee Dreyfuss. She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Dreyfuss of Fairfax, VA; a son, Jack Riggs of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Jessica Dreyfuss, Helaina Hefner and Jake Riggs; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jake Riggs, Bob Hudnall, Chris Hudnall, Blaine Paxton, Patrick Gladney, Sam Dowies, Dennis Copeland and Brian Flynn. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Riggs, her family suggests memorials be to the June Shelton School, 15720 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75248.
