Lowell Alton (Dusty) Collins, Jr.
He was taken away from loving family and friends as a result of accident July 7, 2014 in Dubberly, LA. Preceded in death by parents Lowell Alton Collins, Sr. born Plain Dealing, LA and Donnie Marie Cheek Collins born Delight, Arkansas; and one son, Robert Clark Collins born Shreveport, LA. Dusty was born in Bradley, Lafayette County, Arkansas in 1938.
Survivors include wife of 57 years Sherry Goodman Collins of Dubberly, born Pine Bluff, Arkansas; son Lowell Scott Collins and wife, Patricia Lanke Collins of Greenville, Tennessee; daughter Donna Lynn Collins and partner Marc Moessner of Los Angeles, California.
Also left to grieve is sister Janice Marie Collins Murray and husband Richard David Murray of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters Rachael Erin Collins of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Rebecca Ann Collins of Alexandria, Louisiana. Other special family members are Frances Anita Riddle Elliott and daughter Amy of Dallas, Texas, Bruce Wayne Lowe and son David Woodson Lowe of Dallas, Texas and son Bruce Wayne Lowe, Jr. and wife Rebekah of California.
Dusty attended Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge and was for 28 years employed as Field Representative for GMAC and spent 12 years serving as Sheriff's Deputy in Webster Parish, Louisiana. He was President of Minden Amateur Radio Assn. at the time of his death.
The family wishes to thank the staff of University Health Center's Trauma and Intensive Care Units for their valiant efforts. Also gratitude to Drs. Michael Pistorius of Minden and Phillip Rozeman of Shreveport, Louisiana and their staffs for their dedication in caring for him during his golden years. Visitation and services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral home in Minden and he will be laid to rest Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery in Haughton. Pallbearers will include members of Minden Amateur Radio Assn. and son Scott Collins.
