SHREVEPORT, LA - After a seven year battle with lung disease, Lowell Dean Lawson, 72, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Lowell at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at NWLA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Murry Hodge will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Lowell was born on May 12, 1944 in Jamesport, Missouri to Ray and Opal Lawson. Lowell proudly served his country in the USAF during the Vietnam War. He worked for AT&T where he stayed until his retirement in 2000. Lowell enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds, and he was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Richard Petty and his team. He was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church for 14 years and worked there for several years after his retirement. Lowell was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Lowell is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Lester, Lewis, Leslie, and Leonard Lawson. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Doris Elaine Lawson; daughters, Angela E. Perry and husband Shawn and Allison Lawson; grandchildren, Cody Steven McIntyre, Cameron Lynn McIntyre and Colin Ray McIntyre; brothers-in-law, Jack Haynes and wife Carolyn, Harold Haynes, Ronald Haynes and wife Pat, Larry Haynes and wife Martha; sister-in-law, Paula Mason and husband Ken, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring Lowell as pallbearers will be Shawn Perry, Dennis Ferguson, C.J. Liegey, Grady Long, Buddy Watson, Larry Haynes, Harold Haynes, and Ken Mason.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Haynes and Ronald Haynes.
The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to Doctors, nurses, and staff at Willis-Knighton Pierrmont on the 8th floor and 5th floor ICU for all the care they gave to Lowell.
