Loyce Mullins Camus

Shreveport, LA - Services celebrating the life of Loyce Mullins Camus will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel, with Rev. Jessica Lowe officiating. Family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to service. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Loyce was born on January 20, 1936 to Johnny and Kate Mullins in Marks, Mississippi and passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 due to complications of Microscopic Polyangiitis. She moved to Shreveport in 1945. She attended Fair Park High School and Shreveport Draughn Business School. Throughout her marriage to Frank, they were able to travel and live in many different places which they both loved. They were able to repeat trips that were special to them in England, France, and especially Paris. Loyce did mostly secretarial work in Shreveport, Fort Lauderdale, Hawaii and retired from the family business C&C Electric as Vice President. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends at the mall. She was a member of Grace Community Church, Shreveport. Loyce believed in and lived by these words:

I read of a man who stood to speak

At the funeral of a friend.

He referred to the dates on her tombstone

From the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth

And spoke the following date with tears,

But he said what mattered most of all

Was the dash between those years. (1936-2017)

For that dash represents all the time

That she spent alive on earth...

And now only those who loved her

Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;

The cars...the house...the cash,

What matters is how we live and love

And how we spend our dash.
