Loyd D Varnell

Loyd Douglas Varnell, 78, of McAllen, TX, passed from this life on February 23, 2017. He was born September 1, 1938 in Vivian, LA to his parents, Robert and Arra Varnell. He was a devoted son and loving uncle, a member of First Baptist Church, he retired from Texas Department of Transportation, and was active in bowling leagues for many years. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thomas and Arra Mae Varnell; brothers, Robert Ray, Thomas Calvin and Henry Alvin; and nephews, David and Jerry Varnell. He leaves his sister in laws, Sandra Elkins Varnell, Shreveport, LA and Katrika Varnell, Cibolo, TX; and five nieces and nephews, Stacey Callebrise and Pam Lewis, Wichita Falls, TX, Vicki Braner, Cibolo, TX, Jonathan Varnell and Matthew Varnell, Shreveport, LA. Funeral service will be held on 11 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Kreidler Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 10 A.M. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA with Rev. Richard Beeman officiating. Interment will follow at Huffines Cemetery, Huffines, TX.
