Loyd Hayes Wilkins

Funeral services for L. Hayes Wilkins, 98, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Mansfield with Reverend Thumper Miller and Reverend Bob Latham officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 21, 2017 on the grounds of Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado, AR under the direction of Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation Friday, October 20, 2017 from the hours of 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Mansfield Chapel. Mr. Wilkins was born September 29, 1919 in Bearden, AR to the late Robert Alex and Docie Elizabeth Mays Wilkins and was called to dance with the angels on October 17, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. He was an avid black jack player at the El Dorado Casino and bridge player always taking pleasure in winning big. Mr. Wilkins was a Master Sergeant of the 90^th Division serving in European theatre and a member of the El Dorado Masonic Lodge #13 in El Dorado, AR. He will be missed by those who have loved him. Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Wilkins; parents; son, Robert Hayes Wilkins, two brothers, Smith Wilkins and Woodrow Wilkins, and three sisters, Lela Wilkins, Ila Bass and Nellie Talbert. Left to cherish all the precious memories of Mr. Wilkins will be his daughter, Melissa Wilkins and boyfriend, Doyle Cole; two nephews, Oliver P. Bass, Jr. and James Robert "Jimmy" Wilkins; one niece, Frances Ely along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends. Honoring Mr. Wilkins as pallbearers will be Ed Burns, Doug Burns, George Bass, Ricky Weeks, Corky Evans, Rick "Catfish" Burke, and Sam McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Bridges, Donny Dufour, James "Jimmy" Wilkins, Oliver Bass, Jr., James A. Wilkins, and Roe Ely.
