SHREVEPORT, LA- A memorial service for Lt. Buddy Joe Smith (Ret. SPD), 80, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Keith Adcock and Captain "Kit" Waymon Wren (Ret. SPD.) Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Buddy was born on July 13, 1933 in Sulphur Springs, TX and passed away on June 19, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was a resident of Shreveport and a Baptist. He was a retired Lieutenant from the Shreveport Police Department. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Buddy enjoyed the outdoors, Dirt Track Racing, traveling, Bass fishing and family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sue Smith; granddaughter, April Lynn Smith McLean. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joann Smith; son, Trace Allan Smith and wife, Frankie; daughters, Gayle Smith Pearce and husband, Steve, Stacey Smith Knight; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and best friend, Paul Farley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
