Lucille was a loving mother of five and a mom to many, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 31, 1942, in McKinnon, Tennessee, to Paul Hannah Cathey and Nora Lillian Cooper Cathey.
The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and there she met the love of her life, Joe S. Brown, Sr. They married on September 23, 1957, and had five children, Deborah, Joe, Michael, Denny, and Stevie. Joe was a Boilermaker by trade and traveled around the United States to many locations, and Lucille loved to be with him as much as she could in the towns he worked. She was a wonderful mother who raised her children to be hard workers, strong-willed and loving family.
Lucille had a great wit and sense of humor as she loved to laugh with friends and family on her front porch. She had faith in God’s promises, and that was a great comfort to her. She always was there to listen to those who trusted her with their secrets, and she gave the most logical advice to any situation with love. She loved watching her and joe’s family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would always give hugs and kisses and say “I love you” whenever she saw her family. Lucille was truly one of a kind, and everyone who met her loved and respected her, and she will be missed greatly by all, most of all her family.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Joe S. Brown, Sr.; son, Stevie Brown; infant brother, Paul Cathey; and sister, Pauline Redin. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Brown; sons, Joe S. Brown, Sr. and wife, Lois, Michael Brown and wife, Lisn, and Denny Brown and wife, Dede; grandchildren, Trey Murray, Jason Brown, Jamie Brown, Wes Brown, Kristie Brown, Rachel Brown, Jake Brown, Kelly Brown, and Chance Brown; great-grandchildren, Leia Murray, Ellen Brown, Caleb Brown, Brody, Brown, Lincoln Brown, Jordan Brown, Jaden Brown, Sariah Brown, Olivia Brown, Nathan McKnight, Connor Brown, Louis McKinney, and Scarlett Brown; brother, Ronnie Cathey and wife, Zona; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Brown, and her family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
