Lucille Hollis

Service for (Audrey) Lucille Kennedy Hollis, 95, will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Haughton, LA. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She was born on April 14, 1922, in Farmerville, Union Parish. For many years she lived in Princeton, Bossier Parish, where she died on August 5, 2017. Mrs. Hollis and her husband were founding members of the Airline Drive Church of Christ in Bossier City. In later years she was a member of the Eastwood church family in Haughton. Children in both of these churches learned some of their first lessons about Jesus from her. Mrs. Hollis managed the finances of her husband\'s business, P.W. Hollis Equipment Company. She also briefly operated a beauty shop and worked in retail. Over many years her love and compassion gave hope to many family and friends experiencing health problems or other challenges. Her quiet, sweet meekness masked a strength that overcame many challenges and difficulties. She was salt and light in her life of servanthood. She influenced her four children to live lives of service in teaching, ministry, and government. Mrs. Hollis is preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Bert Kennedy; her sisters, Louise Averso Puddister, Lavene Williams; her brothers, R.B. \"Tinker\" Kennedy and Woodfin Kennedy. Her husband, Page W. Hollis, and their sons, Robert Page Hollis and Bruce Everett Hollis, and a grandson, Bert Hollis, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Hollis is survived by her brother, Lawrence (Doris) Kennedy, and a sister, Terry (March) Davidson, both of Farmerville; a daughter Betty (don) Haymes of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Michael (Elaine) Hollis, of Columbia, South Carolina; her daughters-in-law, Jeanette (Jerry) Campbell and Sandy (George) Williams of Shreveport. Many members of her large, extended family-Hollis, Risinger, and Freeman families of Union Parish, including sisters-in-law Elizabeth Hollis of West Monroe, Laveda Purdue of Searcy, Arkansas, and Dorothy (John) Simpson of Memphis, Tennessee-also survive her. She had seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hollis\'s family is grateful for the care given her by Pilgrim Manor of Bossier City and the hospice team members. Her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Hollis Campbell, and her niece, Pam Nichols, shared their love with her and over many years helped her in immeasurable ways. Memorials may be made to The Bossier Kids in care of Airline Dr. Church of Christ.
