Lucy Lavada Bryant of Logansport went to be with her Lord Saturday, June 28 at the Garden Park Nursing Center in Shreveport. She was born in Logansport Sept. 24, 1911 to Jimmy and Hettie Curry and passed away at the age of 102 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
Mrs. Bryant graduated from Bethel High School of Logansport and married Ernest Bernard "Bernie" Bryant. She retired from Burnett-Bayland Children's Home, Harris County, TX and returned home to Logansport in the late 1970's. She was a member of the Maple Springs Baptist Church.
Visitation for Mrs. Bryant will be Tuesday, July 1 from 5-7pm and the memorial services will be Wednesday, July 2 at 11am with Bro. Ed Holsumback officiating, assisted by Bro. Lee McClentock. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Agnes McSwain, Audrey Andrews, and Mae Pulis; one son, Garland "Buddy" Bryant; brothers Marshall, Bill, Solon, Jack, Hugh, and Guy Curry; granddaughter, Wendy Bryant Selph and great-granddaughter, Lori Rogers.
Survivors include 13 grandchildren: Vickie Yandell and husband Jack of Denver, Colorado, Kenny McSwain and wife Carol of Garland, TX, Donny McSwain and wife Bridgett of Rockwall, TX, David McSwain and wife Tracy of Houston, TX, Phil McSwain and wife Pam of Combine, TX, Linda Johnson and Reba Rogersof Logansport, Joyce Pincheria of Bossier City, Dudley Huckabee of Keithville; Jimmy Pulis, Karen Pulis, Timothy Pulis and wife Donna all of Houston,TX, and Calvin Bryant; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers are grandchildren, Donny, Kenny, Phil, and David McSwain, Jimmy Pulis and great-grandchildren, Josh and Cary McSwain. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Alford, Skeeter Skinner, Randal Hughes and Jack Yandell.
