MINDEN, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Lucy Faye Prince Simons, 87, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer, LA, on Friday, February 1, 2019, at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Roger Johnson, officiating. Interment will be at Tulip Cemetery near Athens, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon-1 P.M., prior to the service. Mrs. Simons was born May 2, 1931, in Homer, LA, to Perry O. and Susie Martin Prince. She entered into rest on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in Arcadia, LA. Mrs. Simons was a member of First Baptist Church of Sterlington. She moved to Minden and served her Lord at First Baptist Church of Minden. Mrs. Simons was a true southern lady. She was an excellent cook and had two kitchens making sure everyone was fed. Mrs. Simons learned how to paint at the age of 50 while attending the Council on Aging in Monroe and was a natural artist. She was devoted to her family and friends with a servant's heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert D. Simons; two sisters, Marceil Harper and Elvie White; four brothers, James Prince, Dub Prince, Pete Prince and Billy Bob Prince; and grandson, Zachary Sim Claybrook. She is survived by her two sons, Paul Simons and wife Mari of Shreveport, LA, and David Simons of Homer, LA; two daughters, Betty S. Claybrook of Stonewall, LA, and Carolyn Brown and husband Larry of Minden, LA; a sister, Ethel Killgore of Haynesville, LA; a brother, Olin Prince and wife Helen of Homer, LA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Premier Hospice, both of Arcadia, for the excellent and loving care that you provided our dear mother. We appreciate all of you involved in her care. It meant so much. Pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Elliott Brown, Cleveland Bradfield, Matt Bradfield, Larry Brown, and Nick Simons. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Simons, her family suggests memorials be made to Tulip Cemetery Inc., 8328 Hwy 518, Homer, LA 71040, Gideons International or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
