Lyndal Prine Gamble, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on March 16, 2025. She was 93 years old.
Lyndal was born on January 16, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Clyde and Dorothy Hollingsworth Prine. She grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Fair Park High School. An incomparable beauty, Lyndal found more than a measure of local and regional fame as a photographer's model -- and caught the eye of a handsome, young dentist named Hollis Gamble. The two fell instantly in love, and married Oct. 31, 1953. Over the next 63 years, until Dr. Gamble's death in 2016, the two lived a storybook life, from traveling the world, to evening rituals of ice-cold martinis together, to entertaining friends in their lovely Mansfield, Louisiana, home.
In fact, Lyndal was well-known for her hostess skills, competently creating beautiful table settings and extravagant party menus for large groups or small circles of friends. Her Saturday morning beignets were the favorite of her children's sleepover guests, all of whom fondly remember waking up to the delicious weekend smells of sizzling dough.
The births of her three granddaughters -- Holly, Elise and Katie -- brought Lyndal so much joy. In her later years, especially after the passing of her husband, she loved to put together family trips, cruising internationally and enjoying time with her family. "Grandmommy" was so proud of the girls and all of their accomplishments. Then last year, to her delight, she became a great-grandmother to Rhodes Gannon Brandt.
Lyndal was preceded in death by her parents; by her son Craig Gamble, Jr.; and by her husband Dr. Hollis Gamble. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Gamble Clark of Baton Rouge; her granddaughters Hollis Anne (Holly) Clark Brandt (Gannon) of Baton Rouge; Elise Katherine Clark of Houston; and Katherine Anne (Katie) Clark of Baton Rouge; and her great-grandson Rhodes (Rhody) Gannon Brandt of Baton Rouge.
The family would like to thank Thaila James, Rhonda Chatman and Levet Parker for the devoted care and friendship over the past several years. Their dedication to Lyndal was so appreciated. We would also like to thank Craig Pratt for serving Lyndal with your ministry of music.
A graveside service will be held at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana, on Saturday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers are Gannon Brandt, Trey Gaither, Britt Gamble, Len Bordelon, Michael Watts, Rex Tamplin, David Oliver and Trey Gleason. Officiating will be Ed Dillworth, retired First United Methodist Church pastor. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Grand Cane Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 18, Grand Cane, LA 71032.
