Mable Irene Barteet

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mable Rushing Barteet, age 92 passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Southside, Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mae was born in Arcadia, Louisiana on September 26, 1923, to Robert and Annie Caver Rushing. She was a homemaker, PTA member and Den Mother during her child raising days. Her second career began in 1976 when she became the Matriarch of the family business, Barteet Plastic Pipe Co. Mae was Sec-Tres till the age of 88. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband William (Bill) Barteet, sisters, Cleo and Margie, and brothers, Thomas, Jimmy, and Jesse. She is survived by her son, Don Barteet and wife, Denise; daughter, Sandra Barkley and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Steven Barkley, Jennifer Andersen and husband, Tom, Jason Barkley and wife, Kristi; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Andersen, and Ashlyn and David Barkley. Mae was also blessed to have wonderful caregivers in Brenda Daniel, Terri McKenzie, Fereaner Powell, and Angela Fefel. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and faithful employees of Barteet Plastics. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA 71203.
