Madeline Horneman Anderson

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Madeline Horneman Anderson passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 31, 2016 in Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be 1:30 pm to 3 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA. A graveside service for Madeline will be held at 4 pm Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Plain Dealing Cemetery in Plain Dealing, LA. Madeline was born July 7, 1934 on the family farm in Plain Dealing, LA to Oliver Lawrence Horneman and Hattie Markham Horneman. She attended Plain Dealing High School where she met her husband of 62 years Charles Anderson. Upon graduation she supported Charles throughout his college and professional football career and went on to work at the Bossier Tax Assessor Office and Kerr Elementary School. Together they went on many adventures through life through raising two children, traveling around the country, running a successful restaurant, managing to not drive each other crazy during their years of retirement. Madeline had a green thumb and her backyard looked like a park. Her hydrangeas were nearly as big as her heart! Madeline was full of love and had the warmest smile. She could tell a fantastic story and on rare occasion she actually got the details of the story correct. Anyone who knew both Charles and Madeline were very familiar with hearing him say "Now, Madeline..." typically followed by a correction or a laugh with a shake of his head while she was spinning one of her tales. While many people are blessed with only a few gifts, Madeline had another gift that was appreciated by all. She was the ultimate dessert maker! She was known mostly for her chocolate delight, southern creme apple pie, cherry pie and of course the peanut butter pie. Patrons of the Sidetrack restaurant would line up faithfully every day at lunchtime to get whatever slice of heaven she had made the night before. Family gatherings were always at Charles and Madeline's home because everyone knew the food would be great and the company even better. It goes without saying she will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Madeline is preceded in death by husband, Charles; her parents; daughter Gretchen Tatum; brother, Bob Horneman; sister Virginia Allen; brother-in-law Billy Anderson and wife, Joy; and brother-in-law Donald Anderson. Madeline is survived by her son, Andy Anderson and wife, Alissa of Bossier City; sisters MariHelen Horneman, Marilyn Collins, and Wendy Authement; grandchildren, Brad and Shannon Anderson of Benton; Brittney Anderson and Rich Jacobson of Shreveport; Seth Tatum and Austin Tatum of Rison, AR; Brandon Pearce and Caroline Pearce of Bossier City; Josh Jordan and Ashley Hudson of Benton, LA; and one very special great granddaughter, Payton Anderson of Benton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Long-time friends and neighbors Allen and Bonnie Self who are considered family also survive her. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rick Michael for his compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Christus Foundation or the Children's Miracle Network at 1453 E. Bert Kouns, Shreveport, LA 71105.
