Mae Dean Newton

Funeral services for Mae Dean Newton, 87, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Macedonia Methodist Church in Florien, LA with Rev. Bruce Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Yellow Pine Cemetery in Florien, LA. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel and 12:00 p.m. to service time Saturday at Macedonia Methodist Church, Yellow Pine. Mae Dean was born August 4, 1931 in Sabine, LA to Alex and Lishie Norris. She was a member of Macedonia Methodist Church. She went to school in Jefferson, TX. She later attended and graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in Beaumont, TX. She loved family and instilled family values. We were taught to love and help everyone that we could. Peace was also a top priority. Her best friend was Jesus! She liked basketball and reading her Bible especially the Psalms. Mae Dean was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Alex Lenard Norris, Sr. and wife LaSandra; daughters, Wilma Newton Byrd and husband James, Charlotte Norris White and husband Calvin, and Jacqueline Newton Hardison and husband Albert; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Honoring Mae Dean as pallbearers will be Tayshun Montgomery, Demarcus Hunt, Carlos Norris, Alexander Norris, Alex Lenard, Jr., Javion Norris.
