SHREVEPORT, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Maggie Malmay Ely, 97, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, with Father Francis Kamau officiating. Committal services will follow at Forest Park East, St. Vincent Ave. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home.
Maggie was born October 19, 1919 in Noble, LA to Victor and Ellen Garcie Malmay, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 25, 2017. She and her husband, Charles, owned several grocery stores in the Shreveport area. Maggie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Ellen Malmay; 2 sisters and eight brothers; her husband of 50 years, Charles D. Ely, Sr.; and sons, David Ely and Charles Ely, Jr. She is survived by her son, Steve Ely and wife, Dixie; her grandson, Jeff Ely and wife, Leila; her precious great-grandchildren, Aiden and Rayne Ely; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Honoring Maggie as pallbearers will be, Jeff Malmay, Steve Malmay, Jerry Malmay, Joe Malmay, Bill Malmay, Jeff Ely, Mike Malmay, and Mike Ebarb.
