Funeral services for Marcella Flores Averitt, 100, will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Steve Petty.
Marcella was born on July 16, 1920 in Red River Parish to James and Ida Flores and passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Marcella graduated from Grand Bayou High School and was married three years later. She enjoyed her life at home raising children and taking care of the family. She enjoyed spending time in the garden tending to her vegetables and flowers, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a faithful member of Pinecroft Baptist Church for over 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin L. Averitt and sons, Larry G. Averitt and Carl L. Averitt. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Berly and husband, Harry; son, James A. Averitt and wife, Marilynn; two daughters-in-law, Vicki Averitt and Sherri Averitt; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Honoring Marcella as pallbearers will be Ragan Burns, Jack Giles, Tommy Giles, Jeremy Scott Lindsey, Robert Reeves and Calen Walker.
The family would like to express special thanks to The Bradford Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation and Amedisys Hospice.
